IS CONDEMNING OTHERS CHRIST LIKE? ASK PAUL.

Pastor Paul Sheehan from Australia likes to ridicule and make accusations against others. I was compelled to ask him to reconsider his ministry methods because I took issues with him making claims about several ministers and the Assemblies of God Australia. During our discourse he looked at my organizations' web site and in a mocking manner asked me about GODSPACT. "What pact?" he ignorantly asks even though it is posted on the web site. According to him, he looked at and pulled what he called "stupid articles from" my web site to "post on HIS web site." Interestingly, Pastor Sheehan's web site TWICE on the home page warns you NOT TO PLAGIARIZE ANY MATERIAL from his site, or face legal consequences, yet somehow he granted himself the authority not only to steal but to also post MY material on HIS web site. Isn't that plagiarism? In my country it is.

Then this self proclaimed messianic man of God had the balls, err... I mean gall to mock a dead family member who preached the Gospel as a servant of God for more years than Sheehan has lived on the Earth. Which God does he serve? Certainly not the one he claims he serves.  After putting my brief experience with this man together, in the final analysis I have determined and stand behind the remarks claiming that THIS IS NO MAN OF GOD. At least not any God that I know.

Paul - I thought God told you everything. After all You are the all knowing Pastor Sheehan.

You know everyone's sins and all, and we all have fallen short of the glory of God except for you. So why is it that God has not revealed to you what his pact is, and reveal where to find it? Why were you left outside of the loop? I'll help you out. Look in the center of your Bible, in the Book of Psalms. Chapter 33, verse 12.

It says... "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance." THAT is the pact, pal. Now you asked me for my name, well look up at the mast head and knock yourself out.

PREFACE ... 

Some people don’t like it when someone points errors out to them. Take Pastor Paul Sheehan, an Australian minister who loves criticizing others on his YouTube channel. He probably does the same thing  on his web site, but I don't have time to read stuff that spins your mind in circles. I must say though that I am impressed by a man who claims that visitors from 198 of the world’s 196 nations visit his web site on a daily basis! And he takes his attacks on people in the Name of God to heart! As a matter of fact, I’ve made his web site’s TOP 10 list because I’m "stupid!" This man is a funny guy.

I guess that’s a good thing, because in his efforts to show me as an idiot on his own web site, he is making it possible for me to expose him by his own hand on his own site. And it was all his idea! Incredible. By trying to somehow expose me, (and there is nothing that I have done in my life that needs to be exposed), he is actually exposing himself for the man he really is.

To be fair to him, he believes that he is right. It’s just that he also truly believes that everyone else is wrong. We should listen to him, because he’s way up there in the heavenly pecking order. Anointed number 2, right behind Jesus Himself! I don't usually ridicule men of God, but hey, when the punches roll my way, I need to fight back, and I'm trying to fight fairly by tying half my brain behind my back just to make it even.

Since he has informed me that he intends on posting my "stupid articles" on his web site, (I think he was referring to my communications with him) I’ll post our back and forth on one of my web sites. After all, what’s fair is fair. His web site (www.fireandhammer.com) contains copyright warnings – "Don’t copy my stuff or else" yet he placed my Trademarked tag line on his web site without seeking my permission to do so. How rude and inconsiderate of him. Well, if you want to see what a “man of God” says when told that his methods of communication suck, take a look at the rest of my post here. THE STORY ...

A funny thing happened on October 21, 2012. While I was looking for the ‘KOOK NEWS OF THE DAY’ to keep entertained, I visited YouTube. I log on and low and behold for what ever reason this obscure pastors’ YouTube video pops up in my suggestion feed. Now I was not, nor have I ever searched YouTube for Australian feeds, nor Australian news, nor Australian politics, nor Australian anything so I was baffled as to why it popped up. Usually suggestions pop up if you looked at something or did a search.

Well, I happen to know of Daniel Nalliah. I know that he is a Pastor in Australia; I know he was born in Sri Lanka, moved to Saudi Arabia, and then immigrated to Australia. He was instrumental in a legal case (Islamic Council suing him under Victoria's Racial and Religious Tolerance Act) where the Australian Supreme Court ruled the act unconstitutional and over tuned a lower court ruling which tied the hands of the judge. Three Muslims set Nalliah up when they went to a church seminar on Islam and were “offended” in what they heard. This ruling set precedence on free speech for every Australian.

During the trial, it was discovered that the contents of the seminar and the alleged offense was related to passages which were taken directly out of the Qu’ran. In what I consider a brilliant move, Pastor Nalliah told the court that all of the information presented in the seminar came directly from the Qu’ran and asked the court “If what I said was offensive, and that material came from this book? Why am I here? We should be banning this book!”  Excellent point! Pastor Nalliah then founded the Rise Up Australia Party.

Okay, the video sparks an interest so let’s see what this is all about. I click on the link, and as a Christian man, I was appalled by the “sermon” which was presented by Pastor Paul Sheehan. I watched roughly 8 minutes of the video, and determined that for a man who claims to be a man of God, he’s taking a lot of cheap shots, not only at Nalliah, but at others as well. I genuinely could not take any more (basically because I got bored of the bashing). It was not edifying in any way shape or form.

I usually don’t respond to people with psychological and anger issues, but as a man of God myself, I really could not idly sit by and let this man get away with slandering other people.

I initiated a back and forth exchange on YouTube Message, and this irrational man turned his pent up frustrations on me. Okay, so now we’re in a pissing contest, and this was the back and forth. I am posting this only because he informed me that he intends on posting some of it on his web site (www.fireandhammer.com). I want to make sure the real story gets out because I have already seen two things posted on his site that I did not say to him. Funny, he uses other people's work, yet repeatedly warns people not to steal his materials. Why is that Paul? Wasn’t the Bible written for all men? Or is it now your own  personal interpretation of scripture? Well, since he is using my materials, I will post them for you here too. If we’re going to have a pissing match, I hope Pastor Sheehan knows that I’m a diabetic and pissing for me is an all day event. (Sorry for the crass language. Some things are best said as they are. Besides, let's make me look REALLY stupid.)

Feel free to read this and ask yourself if this is a true man of God or not. I am a Christian but don’t present myself as the anointed one. My goal was to tell him that his method of attacking people is not a Christ-like example. And he called me stupid. Now that’s a funny guy for you! WWAOD? (What would the anointed one do?) Obviously, call you stupid. I can see his alter calls now. "You you stupid schmucks come on down, mate!"

HELLO!!! (Oh brother - Didn't expect a response I guess).

First things first. My intention is not to belittle or ridicule you, but to educate you. Rather than look at my remarks as an attack, I ask that you take them as constructive criticism. Open your mind just a little to focus on what I am trying to convey to you.

I misspelled Nalliah, accidentally and not purposely. Not only did you worry about that, you cast an aspersion that is not based on any fact. Since we're bickering over "Stupid Stuff" and spelling, it's Hallelujah, not helleluyah. And Pastor, you do realize that "Christ" in the Greek is a title, right? One which was given to every single Greek god. Most Christians are not aware of this fact. While I understand how we use this title within Christianity today, I believe that God may consider it's use as an abomination. Neither you nor I are equipped to speak for God on this subject with any reasonable accuracy and we may both be wrong in the end.

Brian Houston is the Senior Pastor at Hillsong Church which is associated with the Australian branch of the Assemblies of God. He has his views. I may not necessarily agree with everyone's views as apparently you do not as well, but to attack Nalliah and now on Houston is not a "Be ye kind" example for others to follow.

This brings me to my definition of "Stupid Stuff." Specifically, denominational differences. When will Church Leaders grow up and concentrate on the things that UNIFY Christianity, and not fight over the minutia of denominational differences? Every church leader must focus on the message of the cross and present that to a sinful world. There are "Mega-Church" Pastors in the US that will never preach the cross and have stated this as such. In my view, they are apostate.

There are over 30,000 Christian denominations in the United States. Why? We have one Bible. The words generally don't change except by translation. So why so many different sects if our mission has a singular purpose? I know of a church near Chicago which about 2 decades ago allowed a large number of Russian/Ukrainian immigrants to become members. Yes it grew the church, but it also split the church. The immigrants insisted on the washing of feet as Jesus had done in the Bible during the Sunday service. They could not understand that we in the west did not do this. Now who is wrong in that example? My church took in 2 families and didn't face that issue. A third family decided to head to California (From New Jersey) because they heard that the "government welfare benefits were much better there." Taking freebies from the government is not what Jesus taught either, so good riddance. 

Back to Nalliah. He has placed his life on the line for the Gospel and came close to death on at least two occasions. I respect him for that. He has fought for your freedom to speak in Australia against sin without fear of the law. I respect him for that. He is using his notoriety to speak to government officials. I respect him for that. You on the other hand took what I consider to be cheap shots at him and after further observation believe that you have a problem with the AoG and honestly, by singing "Feelings" in your video only made you look like the classical Christian buffoon Pastor. I doubt that this was your intention but that's how it came across to me, so imagine what the enemies of Christianity will do with your presentation.

I hope that what I have said will be useful to you and will cause you to re-evaluate your position - not on your view against those you mentioned, but in your direct actions and sermons against them. I took cheap shots at you only to have you see what it feels like. Join me in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations, and not pointing at splinters in others eyes while ignoring the telephone poles in our own eyes.

To sum it up, in India a man named Mahatma Gandhi once thought about embracing the Christian faith. As he walked up the steps of a church, a man greeted him by telling him "Why don't you go and worship your own gods with your own people?" Ghandi walked away with a negative (being kind here) view of Christianity. Would history have been different if he became a Christian? Perhaps, but the moral of the story is that YOU may be the only Jesus that some people ever see.

Actually, even though you disagree, I AM in a position to educate you. It is better that I try to get you to understand that your methods are not productive because I don't want God to spit you out as lukewarm water. I find it a bit presumptuous for you to make such a statement and call me foolish. It was by complete chance that I even saw your small production at all. So how is it that it came to my attention if not by the power of the Holy Spirit?

I know of Nalliah, but was not seeking him out, nor his party, nor his church, nor was I anywhere looking for Australia, nor Australian churches or pastors. Your video literally came out of nowhere and I was curious for whatever reason. I don't make it a habit of looking around the Internet for rebel rousers, but somehow your video stuck out like a sore thumb. And you appear as if you are so angry. Why? It sounds like you're envious of these preachers who have attained a greater amount of "publicity" than yourself. If the men we spoke of are false prophets and misguided preachers and liars, why does God allow their existence and in such positions of prominence? What are you? Another Choo Thomas who wrote the book "Heaven is so real?" If you read her book, she claims that you should listen to her alone, right after Jesus. That's how important she is. She doesn't actually make that claim, but if you read her book it jumps out at you. You are pretty much making the same claim. "I know what's best for everybody and all other preachers are wrong." I need to correct something if you misunderstood what I wrote. YOU sir are taking the cheap shots. And now because I bring your attention to your failings as a man of God, you call me a liar, a reprobate and someone who is brain dead giving you a useless observation. Yes. You're right. Satan is a liar and the father of lies. He also comes to us as an "Angel of light."

My attitude or my attention is the commonality of the Christian faith, (what unites us) and not denominational differences, including those with made up bogey men. Does love cover a multitude of sin? God is love isn't He? Does grace cover a multitude of sin? Jesus saved us by grace. Neither one tells us to keep sinning, or that "we're covered." Once saved, always saved. I disagree with that. We are saved by grace, but must strive not to sin. Should I assume based upon your statements here that if someone were to die right now that they could be destined for hell? If that is what you believe, no one will be heaven bound. Not even the saints themselves for "All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God."

Wake up man. It's hard to admit your faults. I'm the first one to admit that I'm not perfect. Just forgiven, and the prophecies that encircle me would probably lead you to attack me as well, but I'll leave that to God to reveal those to you if He so chooses. Also, you need to know that I am not at all pleased that I am the one that had to bring this crap to your attention. I have a rather busy life and really don't have time for this, but I have been lead to respond. I don't want to wind up a Jonah. I personally couldn't care less about what you think or do. I was lead to challenge you on your video. I don't know you and you may be sincere in your beliefs, and a true man of God but at the same time I think that for what ever reason I had to write.

You can delete our conversation as it is no one else's business if you wish but I again feel that I need to tell you that I have been told twice in my life that I would not be walking out of hospital. And I admit I was worried mostly about my family, not myself - for a whole 5 or 10 minutes until God reminded me that HE was in control. That was in 2008 and 2009. I'm still here because my family needs me here more than God needs me there. Since that time, (like yourself), I have been lead by God to respond to things that I believe are wrong with government and with religion, and honestly there have been people that have asked me to kill myself. I hope you're not one of them.

In the past God has used me in ways that would amaze you. They still amaze me to this day! I don't say that to brag, but do say it to provide you with credibility. 

I'm finished and I honestly don't expect you to heed our "conversation" and change your ways, but I will ask that you seek God's direction relating to my remarks - not to the men discussed. What you do Pastor is your business, and you will answer to God someday as will I. I have done what God has lead me to do. Mission Accomplished. This is how I work. Pastor, my apologies for adding this. You should decide if God sent me to you or not. I forgot to mention this point and was just reminded of it as I logged off of YouTube. I was going to log onto Facebook and since I was reminded of this incident, I have to assume that the Holy Spirit has instructed me to add this to my last comment.

Two years ago, I argued with a Muslim man for several days over the Internet. I did not know who he was, and the arguments were rather spirited back and forth.

Naturally we could never cause the other to change their mind, and our back and forth ended. After it ended, I discovered that the man was the highest Muslim cleric in the nation of Egypt.

How is it that he and I managed to debate back and forth if not by the will of the Holy Spirit? And if it was by the power of the Holy Spirit, is it possible that God spoke to some of those who read our debate?

Actually I am a Full Gospel person with Pentecostal roots. Sounds just like you, huh? Now I know why God has lead me here, so I have my answer. You still do not have yours. That's okay. Hopefully the Holy Spirit is still working on you. As for my mouth, I have no reason to open it. My keyboard is my sword, for "I am a Captain in the Army of the LORD. Why I bet if I was to tell you that I was the Pope of the Christians on planet Earth, with stones engraved by the finger of God indicating that as fact, somehow you would say I was a tool of the Devil and destined for the deepest levels of Hell. I'm not making that claim. I'm not questioning your doctrinal accuracy or spiritual condition. I'm merely pointing out that your method of delivery (how you present your case) is flawed if you believe that attacking others for their beliefs is appropriate.

My paperwork really proves nothing but is a symbol of my authority. Ministerial documents do little more than identify one as an employee of the State along with certain privileges granted by the State. I have never had in interest in being a minister but years before in a prophetic word, it was foretold that I would indeed become one. I was reminded of that prophecy after the announcement of my completing studies and ordination. My paperwork does not bestow magical powers but allows me to argue with the likes of false ministers of the gospel like yourself (and that is my opinion). I was ordained on 8 September, 2000 and here we are 12 years later and "Shazam!" You are the first minister that I have had to spank, and I did so because of the way you come across to me, which was an angry man making accusations against others which may or may not be true. To me this is ungodly (again my opinion). I could be wrong. I only say one of your clips and I hope I am wrong, but rather than looking at yourself, now you choose to bash me. That's okay. I poked you with the stick, and you have the right to bite me.

My grandfather was an Assemblies of God Pastor in Brazil who's church membership numbered in the thousands, and actually started churches, orphanages, an old folks home, and a working farm to support those missions, and would travel to churches in the US and Canada to help continue to fund his mission work with the orphanage and old folks home. Have you done any of those things? I have done missions work in several countries and have also worked in multiple support roles. Have you? Now you're going to hit me with "You're a works Gospel guy and are going to see Satan and work on his Satanic farm stoking the coals for the lake of fire."

You on the other hand preach in your living room to a web cam and spew venom from your lips against other men of God. You tell me not to judge, yet you sit in judgement against others. We call that hypocrisy. Such an ungodly example to the world. No wonder people reject Christianity. For a minister of the gospel, and based upon your back and forth with me, I honestly come away with that assessment, but you somehow don't see it.

I know. I must now expect you to label me as "Satan's double agent in the army of God." That makes for an excellent book title. Label me anything you wish. Accuse me of anything you wish. Why not? You brand others for less. What ever you do does not make anything that I have said wrong or untrue. Apparently your pride is getting the better of you here and you should really search your own soul.

Tell me why you sang "Feelings" in the video I watched? To me it was a complete display of blasphemy because to some people God speaks in an audible voice, and to others, he comes across as a whisper, and yet to others, it's more of a feeling. Were you mocking the Holy Spirit because Nalliah had feelings about something?? That message didn't come across to me If you were, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is one sin God cannot forgive.

Well Pastor, I think you give the Devil too much credit. It's like driving with bald tires and blaming the Devil when you get a flat tire.

I am really sorry that you feel the way you do and no, I will not be preaching to you as it is not my job to preach and I am not a preacher, nor a pastor but I have taken the liberty of becoming an ordained minister (complete with paperwork and certifications) for one specific reason - To put me on equal footing with other clergymen. After all, the sheep do not lead the shepherd, and if I were merely a sheep I would have no business in telling you what I did. Apparently the Holy Spirit is having difficulty getting through to you that your actions require attention, but I only base this on one single video - The one I watched.

And yes. My country has problems and they are because people in my country who hate God are making great efforts to remove Him from public life. As I stated in my first post to you, Christians sit idly by in church pews as they lose their God given rights every single day. The day will come when we in the west will no longer be allowed to go to a church and they will wonder what happened and ask why God has forsaken them not realizing that it was because they sat silent. MY primary mission as far as I'm concerned is really to bring out the truth about what the purpose of the English speaking nations of the world is which is why I am confused as to why God has saw fit that I interact with you.

Perhaps God intended to show me, through you, how I look to others. I'll have to pray about that, but part of my mission, or ministry, or what ever one may call what I do is to have a "take no prisoners" attitude. I point out what is wrong and move on, relying on a planted seed to mature and grow on it's own. My rational for this is that if it's God's will, that the Spirit will lead them. That's MY bad attitude, but again my mission focus is not on the salvation of sinners, but to point out where government and religion are going wrong.

Spiritually, the English speaking nations were given the mantle handed to Israel to tell the world about God. Israel sinned and that mantle was given to us. But now, the "time of the Gentiles" is ending and God is returning that mantle to Israel. I have been learning things that are very troubling. That much of Christianity is not built on the word of God, but on created traditions of men like Constantine who in an effort to united the Roman Empire made Christianity the "Official religion of the Empire."

We worship God on Sunday. I was taught that God moved the Sabbath to Sunday because Christ arose on Sunday. The truth is that Constantine moved it to Sunday, because that was the DAY we were to worship the SUN god. And what we call Easter, the worship of another Pagan goddess who was supposedly Constantine's mother - reincarnated from some Babylonian goddess who came from the heavens in an egg and demanded the sacrifice of children. Or the practices of what we call Christmas and the meanings of traditions we "practice" today which again have their roots not in Bible, but in Babylon.

And you know, I question God about this. Why would He allow us to deviate so far from the truth? My pastor tells us that God allowed just enough of the truth that we can still serve Him properly. Well, I disagree. The modern world would be thrown into chaos if we started tinkering with things like changing the day of worship from Sunday back to the Sabbath, but I believe that the world should be told the truth - so that at least we know the facts about our religion.

My friend, I love you, and I love God and my soul is burdened by this knowledge that I am coming across as I look at what we believe. My eyes are being opened almost daily to the things we hold as sacred but have pagan roots, and I am troubled in my spirit.

I don't know God's timetable for mankind, but looking at Revelation, the first four seals have been opened and we are nearing the fifth seal. Interestingly, the four horsemen of the apocalypse apply to four specific time periods in human history. The white horse represents the church. The red horse represents the period of Communism. The black horse (note that the horseman holds a scale) represents Capitalism. The last horse, the GREEN horse represents Islam! This is where knowing the Greek word becomes important. The Greek word "chloros" is used to describe "green" in the Bible, but to a translator who has never seen a green horse, you look at the language and come up with "pale." Things like this example are beginning to be "discovered" by some of us out here and again the amount of ignorance we Christians have about the truth of what we believe in today is mind boggling.

Well, I'm going to leave you now. I will not be returning but I will leave you with this verse.

..."Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and, 'The time is near.' Do not follow them. (Luke 21:8) Why that verse? I'm unsure. It may be for you, it may be for me, perhaps it's really for both of us.

You're a funny guy. Here I come along and try to help you but since you know all, oh magnificent one, and have God's ear, just as Choo Thomas does, you have your work cut out for yourself. I was placed in a position where I had no choice but to reply. I saw more attacks including calling me stupid. Jesus must really proud of you, so I defend myself. After all, I didn't call you a moron who makes pusillanimous arguments, did I? No, I did not.

As for my posts, please feel free to post what ever you wish on your web site. Right up at the very top! Include arrows pointing to what I have said. And please, feel free to call me names, and throw in colorful metaphors like 'Satan's disciple' or what ever you wish. I encourage you to do it because it will show everyone who visits your web site exactly where you're coming from and what you're made of. Just make sure that you post everything completely and in context and give credit where it is due, and don't put words in my mouth. Being a public person I don't post anything that I do not back up, so post away!

THE BSA "Ineligible Volunteers" LIST

Yesterday, (10/18/2012) the Boy Scouts of America released their "Ineligible Volunteers" list, or what the media have been calling "Perversion Files." I'm surprised that didn't run with "PEDI-FILES." The intent of the list was to document suspected and perpetrators of abuse and prevent them from serving as leaders. While I believe that abusing any child is a tragedy, people must understand that those who prey upon children lurk just about anywhere in every society. This includes clergymen, teachers, etc... There is no "one group has all" molesters.

Honestly speaking, one of the reasons that I registered and became a Boy Scout Leader was to ensure that I could do all that I personally could to A) protect my son and B) protect other boys from potential lurkers. Most parents see Scouting as a "drop off" activity which is unfortunate.

The Boy Scouts of America do background checks on people wishing to become leaders in their "traditional" programs, but here's the problem. Unless you have been CAUGHT being a molester, there is nothing out there to indicate if you are a molester or not.

While I can sympathize with the boys that were abused, and detest those who used their positions of trust to inflict their deeds, and again stating for the record so there is no confusion that I deplore this conduct, I decided to go beyond the hype in the media and look at some numbers.

Unfortunately, I could not find specific numbers regarding the 20 year period between 1965 and 1985 which is when these so called "perversion files" were amassed, so the figures used here are simply totals divided by 100 years (1910-2010) of Boy Scout history.

I hope that someone at BSA National can do actual research using this model and provide "actual" figures and data regarding this issue. Now, let me do my best to tackle this with the resources at my finger tips. I did make attempts using Internet resources, but could not find anything that was helpful in my quest.

According to media reports, there were a total of 1,248 names in the "Ineligible Volunteers" files.

Divide the 1,248 by 20 years and it averages to about 62 per year.
Multiply the average by 100 years and you have 6,200 "molesters"

Between 1910 and 2010, there were 114,304,329 registered youth participants in the Scouting program. Divide that by 100 years and it averages out to about 1,143,043 scouts enrolled in the program per year.

Between 1910 and 2010, there were 33,364,261 registered adult leaders in the Scouting program. Divide that by 100 years and it averages out to about 333,643 adult leaders enrolled in the program per year.

Take the 33,643 adult leader total, minus the 62 bad apples and you have 33,581 dedicated leaders who by virtue of this report have just been painted with a broad brush, not to mention tarnished an entire organization because a small number of deviants lurk within it's membership.

Looking at the big picture, the number of people affected by this problem is minuscule compared to the over all dimensions of the program as a whole. Do we blame everyone for the actions of a minute few? This is a question that needs to be asked and answered.

I'm for weeding out potential molesters, and there is another issue lurking out there where people have picked sides and are demanding that they be allowed in too. To me, it's a fox in the chicken coop matter. While I am not painting everyone in that light, somehow I believe that the 62 number would go up because of the bending over to the whims of people who disagree with your goals as an organization.

The BSA has what is called by others the premiere youth protection program in the nation and it involves education youth, parents and leaders. The program is designed to protect youth and also to protect adult leaders from doing things that could be seen as questionable, like being alone with a Scout not your son. I have served on our District's training staff, and one thing I emphasized is that every leader take the course for their own protection. It is now a required course for ALL leaders.

So now you hopefully have a better understanding of this problem. Incidents have most likely not ceased, but I suspect that they have been greatly reduced, and the BSA should consider releasing any data that could back this statement of mine if for anything to present facts and figures that show progress in this area.

Vigilance and awareness is everyone's responsibility!

Time for me to talk about this...

crowd. Probably members of "The Cereal Party." You know, the party with the

Flakes, Nuts, Fruits and Kooks." Certainly NOT the right wing crowd.

In the interest of disclosure, I am a Boy Scout leader in New Jersey, (recently sidelined for health issues) and have dedicated a substantial amount of time working to further the aims of Scouting in multiple roles in local, District and Council capacities. I was once introduced to the Regional staff by a Scouting professional who started the introduction with “Mario has a rather impressive Scouting resume…” so I believe that I personally exemplify the importance of the Scouting program to the community, and believe that it has great value to the lives of the youth the program touches, and makes them better citizens.

Having said that, I must now separate myself as a veteran Scouter and state that the views I present here are my own, and not necessarily those of the Boy Scouts of America. I’m writing based upon my interpretation of BSA policy, which I will address below the two sub-pieces below.

This is very interesting and I was actually going to post an entry on this subject and was in the middle of doing some research, but this is one of those issues (like the apostate church which I’m still dissecting), where you will find so much information on both sides, that it leaves your mind spinning in circles. I’ll eventually get around finishing that one up, and will most likely revisit this in the future as well, but having this placed before me today will give me an  opportunity to address the issue in a way that most people will understand it. Now I didn’t say that they would necessarily agree with me, or change their minds but my goal is to have them achieve some kind of understanding on this issue.

Do the Boy Scouts of America as a group, or I as an individual “hate” gays? Of course not, but many in the gay community are out there making this ridiculous claim. It’s like me saying that they hate non-gays because they are not gay. I often defend the BSA on the Internet via other media and on at least one occasion I was asked by a “tolerant and understanding of other peoples views” gay guy to kill myself. As a matter of fact, this time last year in Union, NJ a teacher lost her job because she posted on her personal Facebook page some opinions that while off taste offended the gays so much that they demanded that she be fired and she was. Is this what we are coming to?

SIDETRACK… Viki Knox.

Let’s look at how these “tolerance” things work, using this as an example of political correctness nun amok. Mrs. knox, black woman, school teacher and religious person worked at Union High School. The government (school) places up a bulletin board on “gay history month” which she objected to and posted her objection on her personal Facebook page. The gay community comes out of the woodwork with vile attacks on her and with the aid of disgraced Municipal Judge and convicted wife beating attorney John Paragano (do a Google search) had her fired from her job. Really? I see that bulletin board as government sponsored SEXUAL HARASSMENT don’t you? Mrs. Knox should counter sue for that! So whose rights outweigh the others? Just saying.

Back to topic…

So who is really the bigot? If you oppose the BSA policy in my view you are just as bigoted (using your choice of words) as your perceived bigotry of the BSA, but let’s look at the facts in this case.

Subject: My gay son denied his Eagle Scout award

My son Ryan has been a Boy Scout since he was 6 years old, and now, a few days before his 18th birthday, he has fulfilled all the requirements to be an Eagle Scout. But because Ryan recently came out to his friends and family as gay, leaders from our local Boy Scout troop say they won't approve Ryan's Eagle award.

To me, Ryan is perfect. But not everyone treats him that way -- in fact, Ryan has been a victim of severe bullying. That's why, for his final project to become an Eagle Scout, Ryan worked with younger kids to create an anti-bullying "Tolerance Wall" at a local middle school: 288 different tiles showing acts of kindness.

That's the kind of kid my son is. Instead of lashing out, he helps others feel less alone. That's why I'm so angry that our local Boy Scout troop leaders want to treat my son as less than other kids just because he's gay.

I started a petition on Change.org asking our local Boy Scout council (near San Francisco) to approve Ryan's Eagle award. Click here to add your name.

Ryan worked so hard to earn his Eagle Scout rank. For 12 years, he has worked to attain badges, do community service, and become the kind of exemplary young man the Boy Scouts claim to produce. Gay or straight, I love my son just the same. And I don't want anyone to treat him differently or make him feel bad about himself because of who he is.

Although the national Boy Scouts have remained firm in their anti-gay discrimination, local Boy Scout councils have started to fight back. Several councils even clarified that they will allow gay scouts after they were petitioned to do so on Change.org. I know that if enough people sign my petition, our local council will give my son Ryan the Eagle Scout award he deserves.

My son Ryan needs your help.
Ryan joined the Boy Scouts when he was just six years old, and since then, he's dreamed of earning his Eagle award -- the highest rank in the Boy Scouts.
Ryan is now a senior in high school, and just completed the final requirements to earn his Eagle Award. He's an honor student with great SAT scores, who's hoping to attend the University of San Francisco. But because he recently came out to his friends and family as gay, leaders from our local Boy Scout troop say they won't approve his Eagle award.
A Boy Scout gets his Eagle by earning many badges, completing all lower Scout rank requirements, and carrying out an approved final project. So Ryan decided to build a "Tolerance Wall" for his school, to show bully victims -- like Ryan -- that they are not alone. Ryan worked countless hours with elementary students to amass a wall of 288 unique tiles, all illustrating acts of kindness.
But when leadership in Troop 212 (San Francisco Bay Area) found out that Ryan was gay, the Scoutmaster said he refused to sign the official paperwork designating Ryan as an Eagle Scout, despite the fact that Ryan completed all of the requirements.
Many troops around the country are standing up, choosing to reject the Boy Scouts' discriminatory policy. I sincerely hope that Ryan's troop will become one of them. And with your help, they just might.
It hurts me so much to watch Ryan suffer for being who he is, because to me, he's perfect. Ryan has worked for nearly 12 years to become an Eagle Scout, and nothing would make him more proud than earning that well-deserved distinction. I hope that if enough people come together, we can convince my son's troop leaders to help him feel proud of who he is and all he's accomplished.
"Citizenship in the Community," a merit badge earned, means standing up for what is right, and I am proud of Ryan for doing just that. Will you stand with him too, and join this campaign?

I read the email, and I read the petition page posted above and yes you empathize with this mother and this young man. He has done the work required for his Eagle award and yes he deserves to receive his Eagle award, but this is where it gets tricky or sticky, or tough!

What is the official BSA policy? In a nutshell, the policy is that “We Will Not Allow Atheists or Avowed Homosexuals to Be Leaders or Members in the Traditional Programs.” Scouts are not vetted however persons applying to be adult leaders assign to the BSA, the authority to conduct a background check and that you subscribe to the Declaration of Religious Principle. The BSA DOES NOT ask for or seek information about one’s sexual orientation. As I say it, there is no sex in Scouting. Period.

The “Non-Traditional” programs such as Learning for Life requires an application, but does not include a background check, nor asks for adherence to the Declaration of Religious Principle.

Back to the topic. Let’s look at the policy shall we? Atheist is obvious. Scouting promotes believing in a higher power than yourself. While Robert Baden Powell is quoted as saying that belief should be based upon the Christian faith, the BSA permits belief in all gods, or a tree if that is your god. The BSA promotes the importance of belief, not which god to believe in. The BSA does not teach “religion.” It encourages religious participation in one’s own faith.

Now look at the wording regarding “gays.” It clearly states AVOWED HOMOSEXUALS. First, no BSA youth member has ever been expelled from the program because of their sexual orientation. Next, the key word is AVOWED, and this is where the problem lies.

In my experience, homosexual-Americans (as a former disgraced politician once called himself), often feel the need to tell everyone that they are gay. I have been greeted twice by gays who introduce themselves with, “Hi, I’m Tony and I’m gay.” Why do I need to know that? It’s none of my business. This happens in Scouting as well. I have worked with gay leaders (my opinion based upon observation) and never had a problem because they didn’t think it necessary to tell the world. To be fair, I do have gay friends and acquaintances that don’t make a habit of telling everyone, but those are not the guys in trouble now are they?

In the landmark Dale v BSA case, Mr, Dale was a homosexual activist and was asked to step down as an Assistant Scoutmaster. Avowed. Big mouth. Tell everybody. IF he just concentrated on Scouting, it would not be an issue. As an aside, in that very case have you ever heard from any sources that a homosexual organization filed an amicus brief with the US Supreme Court on the side of the BSA? Surprised? Well they did because they saw the writing on the wall. If the BSA lost, well the gays would have to allow straights into their “club” and we can’t have that now can we?

The US Supreme Court eventually ruled in favor of the Boy Scouts, but Liberal activists who LOVE the court when things go their way had problems with this ruling. Interesting!

  

Since that time, there have been organized attempts by groups and individuals to try to get the BSA to change its policy. The most effective way is to have major contributors stop their financial support and contributions to the BSA. I guess homosexuality is more important to these people than the youth served by the program, but it has also had a backlash on some organizations. The United Way in some areas (since apparently their National Office is useless and has no control over the local offices – so why have it?) has stopped funding BSA locally, and some have just decreased funding. As a fundraiser for the BSA, I stopped mentioning United Way funding altogether in my presentation because I could not determine if any money sent through United Way would ever reach my Council. My Council is served by several chapters of UW and some will not give a dime to BSA even if you designate that this is where you want the money to go. As an aside here, my wife and I no longer give to the United Way, and many have followed our lead as well including her employer who always DEMANDED that their employees contribute to UW. Are all UW’s bad? No, but pick your giving carefully!

Will the BSA ever change the policy? I doubt it and I support that decision whole heartedly. You see, when someone joins a group like the Boy Scouts, you join because of what THEY BELIEVE AND STAND FOR, and not for what YOU want them to believe and stand for. I have been at Recruitment nights, and some parents had a problem with GOD and want the oath changed. They were told it does not work that way and a woman once lied and stated that the Girl Scouts allow you to change their oath. Okay, join the Girl Scouts. If you are uncomfortable with the program, then it’s not for you. By the way, I checked with the GSUSA and was told that no one was allowed to change their oath, so someone was lying to someone, at least back when I checked anyway.

Most BSA units are chartered by religious organizations. Public Schools no longer support units and in NJ, an order actually came down from the State Department of Education discouraging any involvement with BSA. I know someone who actually saw the memo from the DOE but unfortunately neglected to ask for a copy. In plain language, the School District Superintendent told the Professional Scouter who was visiting that “This is what you’re up against.”

The BSA is basically caught in a catch 22 situation. If the policy stands, then the gays and their supporters remain mad and continue efforts at destroying the BSA with their willing Liberal accomplices embedded in institutions with generous purse strings.

If the policy is changed, the BSA faces the real potential and substantial loss of membership and organizations that charter units. Membership will not increase at all, but could spell the end of this great organization.

Some will agree and some will disagree but those are the plain hard facts. Some people are working hard and trying to change policy from within. Some Eagle Scouts have returned their Eagle awards to the BSA, but that doesn’t impress me. If you returned your Eagle award because of this policy, and if you truly stand for your convictions, then man up and return all of the other goodies that you received at your Court of Honor. Return as a cash gift to the BSA any money from scholarships that you received because of your status as an Eagle Scout, and remove that designation from your resume. Of course they won’t do that. It’s made their life a little easier. I’m not making light of your decision but decisions have consequences.

Everyone knows BSA policy, yet try to join as leaders and then announce that they are gay and get upset that they are asked to leave. This young man, Ryan Andersen has just done this to make a point, and is now unhappy with the reaction that he got. Is it fair? You tell me. He knew the policy and tried to be slick, and now he has a problem with being slick.

In one of my online debates on this issue, I was asked what if MY son came out as gay. What would I do? My reply was simple, and heartfelt, and based upon fact. I would still love my son. He is after all my son. At the same time, I would not be demanding that the BSA give him an award if he was obviously not following the rules established as part of that award. A Scout is trustworthy. That means honest. It doesn’t mean entitled. For Ryan to “come out” now in my opinion is nothing short of making an attempt to change the current policy and THAT is also wrong. To disagree is one thing on this issue, but to demand that others bend over for you is another.

The homosexual community has been making great strides in the last few decades. We went from them asking that we accept them, all the way to now when we are told that we should not only accept them, but change our own way of thinking and actually embrace them for what they do. This is a slippery slide people. Don’t believe me? Look at Europe. The homosexual lifestyle is embraced, and now others are demanding the same. A woman in the Netherlands demanding that the State recognize her dog as her “partner,” or the guy in England demanding that the State recognize “his four wives” who are all on welfare, or in Germany where veterinarians and animal rights activists are demanding that the government crack down on people with perverted minds who are having their way with animals which require medical attention afterwards. This is what happens. We really need to draw a line as a society.

While I tolerate gays and don’t have any issues with them, they need to understand that society does not have an obligation to accept everyone's vices and whims. When we do, then society can no longer exist as a society.

If you’re gay and a Scout, you need not tell everyone that you are. If you’re a gay leader, same advise. No one hates you or is discriminating against you. It’s what you are promoting by coming out that is the issue. Straights don’t go around telling people that their straight, but gays take a spin on that and say that “When you talk about your wife you’re doing just that.” I don’t think so, but why then can’t they say I took a vacation with my friend? If you think that people hate you because you are gay (and maybe a small minority feels that way), then you have the problem because not everyone hates you. That’s in your own mind. Remember that GOD is the one with issues on gayness, and not those who worship that GOD. I’m not going to argue with Him about it. You can do that when you meet Him someday.

You know, this is a two way street issue as well. There are communities across the nation which have benefited from Scout projects over they years yet because of this policy they have opted to distance themselves from BSA and in some cases hinder Scouting activities altogether. I’m sorry but if you are in a Scout unit in one of these cities, and you face obstacles from the city, then I personally discourage you from performing community service work in those communities. Unfortunately that is a choice imposed upon your unit. Work in a neighboring community, or with non-public entities in the “hostile” community. Somewhere that your efforts will be appreciated. After all, I have never seen a group of gays for example clean up and repair a park.

To end this, let me quote Mrs. Andersen’s email. "Citizenship in the Community," a merit badge earned, means standing up for what is right,…” There is a difference between standing up for something, and being forced to accept things that you do not agree with. I’ll stand up for you, but do not believe that your view should become mine, nor do I think that I should fight for your indiscretion of placing yourself in a situation where you were the direct cause of your problem. Criminals love to rob people, but I shouldn’t fight for them when they get caught and thrown in jail, right?
